    • Dharam garam over stamp scam blot
      Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly N Dharam Singh on Wednesday accused the Janata Dal (S)-BJP coalition government of using the fake stamp paper scam to ‘blackmail’ Congress and hush up the Rs 150 crore mining payoff charge against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Speaking to the media, Mr Dharam Singh, who was here to inspect the flood-hit areas said, with BJP MLC Janardhana Reddy bent upon proving his payoff charge, the coalition government was accusing some top Congress leaders of being involved in the stamp paper scam and having met kingpin Abdul Karimlala Telgi in jail.

      The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has come down heavily on the Dharam Singh-led government for violating policy guidelines while transferring police officials. KAT has termed ACP G B Kowri's transfer, issued on October 4, 2005, by the home department headed by Singh, as arbitrary and done with a mala fide intention to oblige politicians and set aside the transfer order.

      With the border and Cauvery issues taking curious turns, former chief minister and Leader of Opposition in Assembly N Dharam Singh on Monday urged Chief Minister H D Kumaaraswamy to immediately call an all-party meeting to discuss these issues. Speaking to the media here on Monday, Mr Dharam Singh stated that it was unfortunate that Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had agreed to lead a delegation of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi (MES) to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to resolve the border issue between Karnataka and Maharashtra. Moreover, Maharashtra was also to pressurise the Centre to consider some villages in Bidar district as Union territories, claiming that it had not yet been decided whether they should be in Karnataka or Maharashtra.
