Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh today asked Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to advance the Assembly session from November 23 for seeking vote of confidence for the newly installed BJP-JD(S) Government. ''It is a clear and persisting indication of instability,'' he told newspersons here, pointing to the postponement of the session for seeking trust vote from November 15 to November 23.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N Dharam Singh on Friday made a scathing attack on Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa over “poor” spending of budgetary-allocation for 2006-07. Addressing a media conference here, Mr Singh said with only a few days left for the presentation of the new budget, only 38 per cent of Rs 43,438 crore allocated for various projects and schemes had been spent so far. “How can the remaining money be spent in less than one month?”, he asked the Deputy Chief Minister.

Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly N Dharam Singh on Wednesday accused the Janata Dal (S)-BJP coalition government of using the fake stamp paper scam to ‘blackmail’ Congress and hush up the Rs 150 crore mining payoff charge against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Speaking to the media, Mr Dharam Singh, who was here to inspect the flood-hit areas said, with BJP MLC Janardhana Reddy bent upon proving his payoff charge, the coalition government was accusing some top Congress leaders of being involved in the stamp paper scam and having met kingpin Abdul Karimlala Telgi in jail.

The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has come down heavily on the Dharam Singh-led government for violating policy guidelines while transferring police officials. KAT has termed ACP G B Kowri's transfer, issued on October 4, 2005, by the home department headed by Singh, as arbitrary and done with a mala fide intention to oblige politicians and set aside the transfer order.
