Bangalore Metro Fare

Bangalore Metro has announced the rates of Byapnahalli-MG Road route. The rates look very reasonable and we citizens should support the various schemes Bangalore Metro has to offer.

The monthly and yearly cards are expected to be popular over time. The govt has a scheme for student travelers too. While the government has provided us this much needed facility, it is the duty of each Bangalorean to use it responsibly.

All you need is Rs 10 for a minimum distance you travel in metro. The BMRC has finalized the fare structure for Reach 1 - Byappanahalli to MG Road. The ticketing system and fares have been made available in the form of Contact-less Smart Tokens (CST), Contact-less Smart Cards (CSC), Group tickets and integrated Metro-Bus tickets.

Commuters who want to avail of the Metro for multiple journeys can use Contact-less Smart Cards (CSC), which provide for discounted fares in the form of Stored Value tickets and trip tickets. Money can be stored in the stored value ticket named Varshik, and it reduces according to use. It is valid for one year from the date of the last add value. The minimum stored value to be loaded is Rs 50 and its multiples, while the maximum stored value will be Rs 1,500.

The scheme Sanchar is good for students, businessmen and Office goers who travel regularly between fixed stations can avail this Trip Ticket System.

Group tickets can also be bought for people traveling in groups.

BMRC and BMTC will jointly introduce daily passes called Metro Bus Ticket (MBT pass). These passes will be available in BMTC buses and Metro stations.

There is no hanging around in Metro stations unlike in railway and bus stations. To enter the metro station you have to pay a minimum fare of Rs 10. 20 minutes is the maximum time one can stay in the station, otherwise you will be evicted from the station.

This is how the smartcard works for the first 2 Kms you pay Rs 8.50 which includes a 15% discount. BMRC intents to promote more smartcard travelers and hence higher discount on smartcards. For the same reason, the smartcards have also been made compulsory for the combo travel with BMTC buses.
