Nimishambha Nimishambha, located about 3 km from Srirangapattana on the road leading to Sangam in the South Indian state of Karnataka. This temple is based on the banks of the River Cauvery. History : Sri Nimishamba is considered as the incarnation of, wife of Lord Shiva. This place Ganjam is considered as a holy place.Nimisha means a minute in Kannada. There is a belief that Sri Nimishamba is going to remove all the problems and troubles of her devotees within a minute. That is why she is called Nimishamba. shrichakra is carved on a stone in front of Goddess and pooja is performed. Muktaraja was blessed with the boon that Sri Nimishamba will come to his aid in his fight against the demons in a minute. That is why there is a deity Lord Shiva by the name of Moukthikeshwara. This temple was built during the time of the Wodeyar Rule, by Mummadi Krishnaraja Odeyar about 300 to 400 years ago. Ceremonies : "Nimishamba jayanthi" is celebrated by Somavamsha Arya Kshtriyas, which is also celebrated as "Vasavamba jayanthi" by Arya Vsyas. Special poojas are conducted on every Poornima(full moon) days. Everyday from 6:00 am in the morning to 8:30 pm in the evening, one can have the "Darshan" of Goddess. Since it is on the banks of the Cauvery it attracts many tourists, one can take a dip in the river and have a variety of food that is available.
