- Karnataka to bring new law to control cyber crime
Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today said that the State government was planning to bring a new law to control the cyber crime in the State.
Replying to a query raised by Mr V Somanna of Congress in the Legislative Assembly, the Home Minister said that the government had noticed the rise in the rate cyber crime and had planned to introduce a new law to control it, besides giving importance for training of more personnel.
- BSNL launches IPTV in Bangalore
The city ushered in another unique innovation to its IT-savvy population, with the introduction of IPTV offered by India Online Broadband and BSNL.
BSNL Karnataka Circle Chief General Manager T S Kuppuswamy made a soft launch of the new technology that would become a full-fledged service from August 15, after fine tuning some minor glitches.
- Bangalore railway station to have Wi-Fi connectivity
Bangalore will become the first railway station to be equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity by August, Rail Tel Corporation of India Ltd MD, K K Bajpeyee, said today. Initially, it will function within a radius of 2-4 km from the station, and its radius will gradually be expanded to cover large number of residential and commercial establishments near railway stations.

AOL, a division of Time Warner, a leading media company, today announced the launch of www.AOL.in, a website that offers e-mail, AOL messenger, mobile services, videos, news, sports and entertainment.
AOL President and Chief Operating Officer Ron Grant told reporters here that with this launch AOL,in will become the first service worldwide to offer AOL’s next generation e-mail service.
- Karnataka High Court become Wireless Field
In another land mark stride in its computerisation drive, the Karnataka High Court will become WI-fi (wireless field) enabled from Wednesday onwards. The Karnataka High Court, considered a pioneer in computerisation, will have another feather to its cap, with it becoming wi-fi (wireless field) enabled from Wednesday onwards. Initiated by 18 senior advocates in association with the Advocates’ Association and WeP peripherals, the service is to be inaugurated by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph.

- Bangalore Cyber crime lab to open in November 2006
The Nasscom supported cyber crime lab will open in the first week of November in Bangalore. Speaking to CyberMedia News, Sanjay Vir Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Economic Offenses, Corp of Detectives (COD), Bangalore, said that the lab will be a public-private partnership initiative.
