Instituted with the intention of offering quality law education in Karnataka, the Karnataka State Law University formed by the state government has managed to create a considerable legally conscious societal transformation. The focus has enabled to recognize the constitutional elemental goals of political, economic and social justice and for securing human rights to every single common man.
Karnataka State Law University aims to spread legal literacy as well as legal aid especially to the needy and poor through its bachelors and masters degree in the field of Law and by its social responsibility practices. Situated in Navanagar, Hubli in Karnataka, the University was established in January 2009 with a sprawling campus spread over 55 land acres. Placement services are also offered by the Law University.
The University continues to receive support from State and Central Government, National Knowledge Commission, UGC, Bar Council of India and Karnataka State Knowledge Commission.
What Does it Offer?
Karnataka State Law University offers many post graduate and graduate law courses, including 5 year programs and double degree integrate courses. Their LLM programs in Intellectual Property Rights, Constitutional Law, International Law, Criminal Law and Business and Trade Law are popular. The University bachelor programs include BA, LLB; BBA, LLB, BBA, LLB (Hons) and Bachelor of Law. Admissions to the bachelors program are strictly dependent on merit and their performance in the qualifying examination.
The Master of Law is a 2-year course offered by Karnataka State Law University. The University is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as modern labs, air-conditioned classrooms and digital boards and LCD projectors for routine classes. The library is extensive with 6000 journals, reports and books besides subscriptions to popular legal magazines in India. The E-library with 2.5 lakh books, online legal database and case law finder are exceptional features offered by the Karnataka State Law University.
An extensive auditorium, hostels, club and catering facilities, indoor and outdoor stadiums, quarters and support structure complete the University premises. There are many new blocks such as Administrative Block and Institute for Legal Training that are yet to occupy the premises.

Nirvani is a faculty in the Department of Law. Other teaching staff of Karnataka State Law University include Shruti A. Shurpali, Rakeshkumar M. Kamble, Bheemabai S. Mulage, T.M. Chetan Kumar and Archana K. The first Vice Chancellor of the university was J.S. Patil.
