  • Karnataka may merge CET & Comed-K exams
    In an effort to ease the students' burden of attending two entrance exams, the Karnataka State government will carry on its efforts to convince Comed-K to conduct a single Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses.

    Higher education minister Aravind Limbavali on Monday, May 25 said, “Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is known across the country for its integrity. The state government will request Comed-K officials to co-operate with it to ease the students’ burden of writing two entrance examinations for admission to professional courses."

  • Tier-II cities top in CET results
    Students from smaller cities are indeed giving boys and girls in big cities a run for their marks. After stunning performance in SSLC/PUC, Tier-II cities like Mangalore, Hubli, and Mysore have thrown up toppers in CET 2009 results which were declared on Monday.

    Mangalore boy Anish Bhat of St Aloysius College bagged the first rank in Medical and Indian System of Medicine while Naveen Y Bhat of Sri Satya Sai Lokseva PU College, Mangalore, got the first rank in engineering.

  • CET race begins with mock test
    Cracking the CET certainly didn't get any easier but at least candidates got a good head-start, thanks to the All-Karnataka Mock CET conducted by ‘Education Times’ at Jyoti Nivas College on Tuesday.

    Over 400 engineering and medical aspirants thronged the venue to experience CET before the actual date. The entire test was conducted along the lines of the actual CET. "This endeavour will definitely benefit CET aspirants. Through this test we will get to know in which areas we are lagging behind, and work on the weak areas,'' said Ashwini B Prithvi, Christ Junior College.

  • Comed-K or CLAT? Both exams will be on the same day
    Do you want to become a lawyer or doctor? Make your choice right now. Hundreds of students appearing for both Comed-K and Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) are in a dilemma as both major entrance exams are scheduled on the same date — May 17.

    Parents too are worried as they feel that if his/her child had not performed well in one entrance test then they could at least opt for another — but now that option is not available.

  • CET likely to be two-day affair
    
    CET 2009 is likely to be a two-day affair, if one were to go by the dates proposed to the higher education department. Two dates have been suggested to the government -- April 26 and 27. "These were the dates available after looking at other competitive exams. Also, students will get ample time to prepare for the test. The minister will take a final call on this," a higher education department official said.
  • Comed-K debars one for fake certificate
    
    On the second day of Comed-K Engineering counselling about 34 percent of candidates appeared for the seat selection process on Sunday. As many as 822 candidates attended the second day of engineering counselling. One candidate was caught for fake documents and certificates, impersonation and other malpractices.
  • Comed-K counselling to begin tomorrow
    
    The COMED-K will begin the counselling session for the under graduate courses in medical, dental, engineering and architecture on Tuesday.
    The candidates can select their seats out of a total of 14 medical colleges, 28 dental colleges, 113 engineering and nine architecture colleges under the COMED-K.
  • CET results may be delayed
    
    The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) may not be able to release the results of the Common Entrance Test (CET) on May 14 as was scheduled in the CET brochure release earlier this year, Syed Jamal, administrative officer of the KEA, announced here on Wednesday.
    Mr. Jamal said that the announcement of the CET results may be postponed due to the delay in the CBSE and ISC boards in declaring the Class 12 results.
  • CET rank list a week before counselling
    The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will announce the CET rank list a week before the seat selection process, scheduled to commence on June 2.

    The first meeting between the government and private managements on sharing of seats and fee structure in undergraduate professional colleges for Common Entrance Test (CET) - 2008 will happen on December 29.
  • Conduct CET for two days
    Students Federation of India has urged the state government to conduct the Common EntranceTest (CET) for two days instead of one day in the interest of the students.

    Federation has criticised the State government decision to limit the test to single day. It has accused the government of heeding to the wishes of private institutions and said that the decision is deterring the rural students in pursuing their education.

  • Comed-K on May 8
    
    Comed-K UGET 2008 for Medical, Dental and Engineering courses will be conducted on May 4, at different centres. This year, Comed-K has introduced English paper for the entrance test in addition to other four papers - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
  • H K Patil asks for 2-day CET
    The opposition leader in the legislative council, H K Patil, on Sunday presented a memorandum to governor Rameshwar Thakur, urging him to hold the CET examination over two days instead of one.

    
    

    Patil's letter said: “All the papers -- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology -- have been scheduled to be held on only one day - April 19, 2008. The timetable issued by the Karnataka Education Authority is impractical and without just consideration for the entire student community.''
  • Mock CET on Dec 2
    
    TIME institute, tutorial for entrance exams will hold an All Karnataka Mock CET for students of II PUC Science on December 2 across the state at TIME centres and the same will be conducted at Mangalore, Udupi and Puttur.
    Addressing a news conference on Friday, TIME Mangalore Director Ganesh Hebbar said that students writing the exam will get the state ranking similar to CET which will be displayed on the website www.time4education.com
    The examinations are conducted free of cost and the main aim of the exam is to prepare the students technically and mentally to face CET examination.
  • CET Cell dons new look as KEA
    
    The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), the new avatar of the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is all set to discharge its  duties, in a bigger capacity.

    The KEA, now an authority registered under the Cooperatives Societies Act, has been approached by several clients for conducting entrance tests for recruitment processes.
