    • CET counselling to start on June 26
      The CET counselling, as per schedule, will start on June 26. Announcing this at a press conference, Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramuthy and Medical Education Minister V S Acharya on Friday said there would be no postponement as the first session of counselling from June 26 to July 1 is for special categories, which are not linked with the ongoing talks.

      Comed-K on Wednesday decided to change its entrance test date from May 30 to May 28. "This is due to non-availability of examination centres on May 30 in view of VTU exams," a press release from Comed-K secretary S Kumar said.

      The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has commenced the process for dispatching CET-2006 admission tickets and the same is expected to reach all applicants by April 28. According to an official press release, Karnataka candidates who have applied through schools and colleges can collect their admission tickets from the principals of their respective schools and colleges on or before April 28.
    • Comed-K to form panel to decide on fees this year
      The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (Comed-K) on Monday has decided to constitute an exclusive committee to look into the issue. The issue itself is quite complex. As per a recent high court direction, last year’s fees need to be continued this year. But last year, the managements and government had come to an out-of-court agreement for a three-tier differential fee structure providing for cross-subsidy in fees.
    • Nod for CET quota Bill
      The Bill provides for reservation in professional colleges starting this year. With the governor’s assent, the state government will have to frame rules for the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission And Determination of Fee) Bill 2006.
